RBA was asked to partner with Hope House and Lawson homes to design a multi-family project on a ¾ acre parcel between 18th and 19th street in Virginia Beach, VA.

The Challenge
The site selected is very small and had specific design requirements to comply with beach overlay district requirements. Using all of their requirements to aid in the design, we created a podium project with living units over an covered parking area. The design aesthetics are inspired by the pastel colors and forms from South Beach, Miami. The units are rented at an average of 60% cost of nearby units and are provided to people in the area that require rental assistance. The project has become a beacon to the area and won both national and regional design awards.
