Ocean Storage - Edinburgh

The site included both site design and zoning challenges. The site was extremely narrow, and so we designed to building with a centerline access lane. The zoning requirements had language that dated back to the 1980s and required the project to include mansard roofs on the main elevation. After several discussions with the city planners and various concept sketches, we developed the final design using a minimal mansard on both buildings. The mansards became a design element and not a hindrance in the final design process.
