The Law Building
Multi-Family, Repurposed
Scope of Work
The Challenge
Repurpose a 7-story office building in Downtown Norfolk to be the anchor for an entire city block of rejuvenation.
This building was initially constructed in 1909 and 1919. The walls were built of masonry mass and had no 90-degree corners. Using various technical equipment, RBA thoroughly documented the existing conditions and created a digital twin in our computer system. We then developed a new design that included micro-apartments, the first of their kind in Downton Norfolk. Using an array of digital rendering systems, RBA created multiple options for a new paint scheme for the building. Obtaining historic tax credits meant we needed to keep as much of the building intact as possible.
